By train and bicycle through the Venosta Valley
The new
Venosta railway line leads from
Merano to
Malles and is connected to an extensive cycle-and-hiking-network. In fact, there is a wonderful cycle path that leads through fruit orchards and meadows that follow the ancient Roman trade route
Via Claudia Augusta.
The
EventCard combines bicycle rental and also a daily train ticket, this will enable you to travel around the whole of Venosta Valley by train or bicycle and to discover this beautiful area. You can do this in a very flexible way, because of the
cycle-and-hiking-network facilities that allow you to rent and return a bike at six different train stations. This is a real tip for those who love great views without huge effort.
Just take the train up to the final station of Malles, get your bike and cycle back to Merano. The way leads
slowly downhill and if the 60km are too long for you just return the bike at any of the six train stations on the way and go back by train. All on one ticket.
