To promenade alongside the water channels
These countrywide
water courses, called Waal, were ancient irrigation channels for meados and orchards. They were first constructed in the 13th century, but many of them are still in use. Alongside these almost level water courses beautiful
tranquil hiking trails have been developed over the years. In the country of
Merano there are about 14 of these water course hiking trails on which to promenade the whole year round.
For more information ask any local tourist office. At the
Schenna tourist office you can also order a guidebook for the water course hiking trails.
