Swimming in Merano and its environs

Cool mountain lakes and comfortable swimming baths

Along the mountain paths surrounding Merano hikers will find cool mountain streams and sometimes deep blue mountain lakes or springs. Don’t miss a footbath in these cold fresh-water springs, and the courageous may take a bath. Back in the valley there are numerous establishments with comfortable, and warmer, swimming pools.

There are many public baths open in summer and winter: families may prefer the Water park in Naturns (Adventure pool Naturns) with a huge playground and waterslides for the children and a generous 'wellness' and spa area for adults. The Panorama Lido of Schenna offers you a wide lawn for sunbathing with an exceptional panoramic view over the whole Etsch Valley. Equally recommended swimming baths (Lidos) are located in the villages of Lana, Algund, Tirol, Merano and in the Passeier Valley.

A very special treat that should not be missed is a visit to the Merano Thermal baths. The Thermal park is situated in the city centre and extends over five hectares. In the midst of the most delightful vegetation you will find swimming and spring pools, stream pools, warm water and coldwater pools and also a Kneipp therapy pool.

Half an hour’s drive from Merano lies the Lake of Kaltern and the Montiggl Lakes, two popular warm lakes for bathing that are embedded in mediterranean vegetation, south of Bolzano.
