A pleasure for the whole family

One can either hire skates and do a few rounds in Piazza Terme square in the centre of Merano, or admire an ice skating show at the new ice rink. Here you have a large selection of ice skating tips in lots of different forms:

The Meranarena: Ice hockey tournaments take place every week at the ice rink of Merano. This is an important meeting place for regional fans of the A2 division and is also a public ice skating hall with a skate hiring service between the months of November and March.

In the valley of Senales there are two outdoor ice rinks: The first is situated in the village of Karthaus. During the winter months the village square is converted into a romantic ice skating ring and is even used for playing Ice stock sport. The second ice rink is in the village Unser Frau in Senales. Every week there are public Alpine curling tournaments that take place here for anybody young or old. Both outdoor ice rinks are open daily and ice skate hiring is also possible in Unser Frau.

In the winter sport resort of Pfelders in Val Passiria valley there is a unique natural ice skating ring that is open daily until midnight with an ice skate hiring service too. Here, you can also play “broom ball” which is a form of ice hockey without ice skates…

The ice rink of Val d’Ultimo valley is close to the ski resort of Schwemmalm in Pracupola. Alpine curling tournaments take place here every Friday, and ice skate hiring is also possible.

The “Schwarze Lacke” is a forest lake situated on the high plateau of San Vigilio above the village of Lana. Even though this enchanted little natural lake is in the middle of a forest, it can be easily reached by foot or by chair lift from the upper cable way station of San Vigilio.

Also in Naturno you find the possibility to skate and play hockey in the sport center. Hiring equipment is possible.
