The
meraner gruppe, founded in 2006, consists of
9 artists who use different artistic forms and styles to express their ideas. As a collective of
independent artists, they explore multiple approaches to the challenges of contemporary social issues through artistic expression. For this purpose, the meraner gruppe invites a guest artist each year to collaborate with them on a project. In 2007 this was Gabriele Amadori, and this year Ugo Dossi, who works in Munich and Berlin.
A=A. On Identity
The exhibit A=A. On identity, taking place between
May and November in the Kränzel maze, showcases current works by members of the artistic collective meraner gruppe.
At the centre of the exhibit is the question of the
identity. As a logical proposition that derives from the ancient greeks, A=A denominates identity, and until today this equation occupies a prominent place in logic and philosophical discurse. The works on show within the exhibit thematize questions related to it, questions that regard the identity of the individual and the group, of singular and the
collective conscience. Symbols of an identity that are never the same, always changing and developing, like language.
The
opening of the exhibition will take place on 23rd May 2008 in the
labyrinth garden of the Kränzel maze.
Opening hours: daily from 10am to 7pm
