Maddalene Sky Marathon

The starting point for the new Maddalene Sky Marathon, to be held on 26th August 2012, will be in the village of Senale, at 7 a.m.! This high-altitude Alpine marathon runs along the Maddalene mountain range and will begin at the well-known holiday destination and pilgrimage site of Senale (1,351 m), located along the south side of the Val d’Ultimo mountains. The route leads along the Bonacossa track up to Malga Binasia, Cima Monte Pin, Malga Stablei and Rumo.

The average height along the route of the Sky Marathon lies at approx. 2000 m above sea level. Its total length is 44.5 km, with the peak height reaching 2,420 (Monte Pin).

Start: Senale (South Tyrol) – 1351 m, 7:00 am
Finish: Malga Bordolona di Sotto (Trentino) – 1806 m
Total distance: 44.5 km
Height difference up: 2,905 m
Height difference down: 3,256 m
Peak: 2,420 m

The Sky Marathon offers unique panoramic views and refreshment facilities in Alpine huts along the way, but nonetheless good technical and physical condition and a sense of caution is required on the part of all participants.
