Merano Music Festival

The Merano Music Festival was introduced in 1986 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the renowned spa town Merano. From the very beginning the festival set the highest artistic standards and so the Merano Music Festival quickly rose to great fame, making it a point of reference among Europe's festivals.
This year's festival focuses on symphonic and chamber music. And, as on other years the festival also offers concerts beyond the scope of a traditional classic festival. These we call „cross-over“-concerts.

The Merano Music Festival 2012, as usual, includes three independent concert series:

  • the symphonic concerts take the centre stage of the music festival. They take place in the Kursaal, a unique example of Jugendstil architecture and one of the most beautiful concert halls in Europe.
  • the chamber music concerts „Matinée Classique“ are held in the  „Pavillon des Fleurs“.
  • the venue of the jazz and „world music“-concerts of the crossover series „Colours of Music“ is the Merano Theatre.
