Cycling in Merano and Environs
Cycling routes for nature lovers
Merano and Environs offers a wide network of cycling paths, clearly marked and surrounded by a natural landscape rich in culture. From the Adige Valley to the mountains, visitors can cycle with constant temperatures through shady forests and flowering meadows, far away from the hustle and bustle of traffic.
Passages and curves
South Tyrol, with its passages, is the Mecca of this region for fans of bike racing. An unmissable challenge for athletes is overcoming the Passo del Rombo/Timmelsjoch (2509 m) and the Passo delle Palade (1512 m), both stages of the Tour of Italy.
By train and bicycle through Val Venosta
The new Val Venosta railway line, running from Merano to Malles 60 km away, is also connected to an extensive bicycle and hiking network. In fact, there is a wonderful cycling path that leads all the way from Malles to Merano winding slowly downhill through fruit orchards and meadows. The newly combined bicycle rental and train bikemobil Card enables visitors to discover the beautiful Val Venosta traveling by train or bicycle. If the 60 km proves too long, visitors can return their bike to any of the six train stations along the way and then return by train, all on one ticket.
