Tradition and modernity
Marling is located three kilometres to the south-west of Merano. It is a holiday resort which manages to combine
tradition and
modernity in a particularly harmonious way. The picturesque town centre is surrounded by modern pensions and hotels of various categories.
This interplay of authenticity, and a modern understanding of a sensitive eco-system can also be seen in the design of the
Marling Waalweg. This watercourse, 12 kilometres long, is the longest trail of the Meran area. Originally a
watercourse for irrigation purposes, the Waalweg is now popular as a hiking trail with visitors. The forest trail, which parallels the watercourse for a length of 2 kilometres, is equipped with information boards on various aspects of the forest environment.
Leisure time opportunities in Marling are various and diverse:
Modern sports, such as tennis and mountain biking are juxtaposed with traditional events, concerts by local bands, or the festive Corpus Christi procession.
