A picture of 48 km²
Schenna is a
picturesque village on the hills above Merano. Its centre, which was recently restored, boasts three churches, the
Mausoleum of Archduke Johann and the proud
castle of Schenna.
Nature and culture are bound together in this rural village that was once a peasant community. Beside the attractive historic centre one can enjoy the
sunny hillside to the South-west, where palms and cypresses grow along side apples, grapes and chestnuts.
Each part of the town, which stretches from
Tall to
Verdins, from
St.Georgen to
Schennaberg, has its own
fascinating aspect. In fact the hole community is spread over 48 square kilometres and extends from 600 meters to 1500 meters above sea level.
