From 18 to 31 October 2008 in Tisens, Prissian and Villian

In years gone by chestnuts were a very important ingredient in the rural diet. They were used to make flour from which a local bread was made. During the Chestnut Days, visitors can learn of the delights and uses of the chestnut, where and when they grow and how they can be used in cooking. The festival focuses on long forgotten recipes and in keeping with tradition, chestnut bread will be baked in an old stone oven. At the market farmers will have chestnut cream doughnuts available for sale, along with other delicasies.

Hikes and guided tours dedicated to exploring the places where chestnuts grow will be on offer, and there will be a series of lectures on all aspects of chestnut culture. These Chestnut Days are a rare and special blend of tradition, culture and cuisine.
