Quality from Merano and its environs
Whether it is the traditional Schuettelbrot (Shaken Bread), the
famous smoked bacon called Speck, or apples and similar
regional high quality products: The real quality products of
South Tyrol are easily recognised by the “Qualität aus Südtirol” label along with the original Logo of the country. In any case you can simply taste the difference.
South Tyrolean Specialities
Those who enjoy the pleasure of new experiences will particularly like the crispy ambrosial
apples from the Venosta Valley, the flavoursome
Schuettelbrot [Shaken Bread], with which to eat the aromatic smoked sausage called
Kaminwurzen, and especially the local milk products. Every day fresh
milk,
yogurts and
cheeses are delivered from different alpine dairies situated in the surrounding countryside. The most famous smoked
South Tyrolean bacon known under its local name Speck, is sometimes the subject of rustic festivals dedicated to its production and quality.
Seasonal products
Festivals are also dedicated to the
asparagus: The season of the asparagus starts at the end of March, this is the time to enjoy this precious white or green vegetable at the Asparagus Fair of Kastelbell called “
Kastelbell Asparagus Time” or at the
Asparagus Weeks of Nals. Autumn too has its Fair, this time dedicated to the
chestnut. At the end of October the villages of Tisens-Prissian celebrate their “
Chestnut Days”.
Natural beauty care through local products that nature provides
Many of our local natural products have been known for ages, are highly regarded and still in use. Of these, the
products of the dwarf pine, which freshen and vivify the skin, are considered most favourably, and are at the heart of our Dwarf Pine body cure. It may sound simple but for hundreds of years it has proven to be true.
